Brazil migration variables 1980 1991 2000

Hello,

I have detected some marked inconsistencies between the unharmonized variables

BR1980A_LENGHTMU

BR1980A_LENGHTST

BR1991A_NYRLIVST

BR1991A_NYRLIVMU

BR2000A_DURMUNI

BR2000A_DURSTATE

and their harmonized counterparts (eg. migratep).

Moreover, the universe description of the migration variables is not always adequate (eg. for migbr1 or BR1991A_NYRLIVST, people NIU are those that have always lived in their current municipality of residece, not those that still live in their state of birth).

As a last point, and here is my question : for BR2000A_DURMUNI, it is documented that 99 means "unknwon". What about BR2000A_DURSTATE, BR1991A_NYRLIVST and

BR1991A_NYRLIVMU ? Does 99 also mean "unknown" for these 3 variables ?

Thanks.

Geoffrey
