Can data for age, educational attainment, income, race, and rent be collected exclusively for renters alone?

I want the data eclusively for the renting population, so they can be compared across geographies. But I don’t understand if it’s possible to collect all of these numbers for renters alone, or if age, educational attainment, etc. are representative of the entire population. Is it possible to collect a bunch of variable for the renting population exclusively?

Yes, this is possible. If you condition all of your analysis on OWNERSHP==2 “rented dwelling”, then you can calculate statistics for age, educational attainment, income, race, and rent to be collected. You can do this either within your preferred statistical software or by using the Select Cases tool in the IPUMS online data extract system. If you use the sampling weights (PERWT for individual level analysis and HHWT for household level analysis), then your calculations will be representative of the entire population.
