How do I establish grandparents (or grandparent) as the primary caregiver for grandchildren in the household? I think I understand the relationship variables, and I have used grandparents as caregivers in ACS and PUMS-ACS data, but I have not yet been able to locate those variables (caregiver or custodial grandparent) in the IPUMS. Would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
I think that the variable you are looking for is GCRESPON, which is available in the Person>Other variable group.
