I wish to know if the sample in the ATUS survey is a panel data, that is, you follow the same respondents in multiple years. Are they the same individuals surveyed in the ipums-USA database.
The IPUMS USA and IPUMS Time Use projects provide access to data from two different sources, and therefore include different households. IPUMS USA focuses on data generated by the US Census. IPUMS Time Use project focuses on data from the BLS. IPUMS Time Use includes different households in each sample. These households are a random subset of those households included in the Current Population Survey (CPS). More information about the sampling framework for the ATUS data can be found here.
