Duration of unemployment

Hello,

I would like to know if i need to weight the variable durunemp (duration of unemployment) with weights wtfinl and wtsupp(for the march file) in order to define an aggregate mean, i.e. an average unemployment duration.

Thank you

That is correct. You will want to weight DURUNEMP by WTFINL in the non-March months and by WTSUPP in the March months. Using the weights will make your aggregate mean representative of the population, rather than simply a mean of the sample.

Hope this helps.
