Inflation Variable

I am working with IPUMS-USA from 1980-2012.

I would like to adjust for inflation with income. I am currently using INCWAGE for income.

Is there a way to adjust for inflation?

The inflation variable in IPUMS-USA is CPI99, which converts nominal dollar amounts to constant 1999 dollars. You can find more information on how to properly use this variable here. While all single-year samples record nominal dollar amounts, multi-year ACS/PRCS files have dollar amounts that are already standardized to the dollar value in the final year of data (e.g., 2007 dollars for the 2005-2007 3-year file).
