IPUMS CPS data can be found here and you can browse and select data for an extract here. A listing of help tutorials are available to walk you through using IPUMS data in general and IPUMS CPS.

Since this analysis is related to income data, it is likely that it was conducted using the ASEC samples, which you can select here. Additionally, you will probably be interested in income and work variables as well as family interrelationship variables and core demographics.
