Number of children between the ages of 0-6 and 7-18 in IHIS data?

Any way to figure out the number of children a respondent has and the ages of those children? For example, I'm looking for number of children a respondent has between the ages of 0-6 and number of children between the ages of 7-18.

There is not a variable in IHIS that provides exactly what you are looking for; however you can identify mothers through the variable MOMPNUM. Something to keep in mind is that this variable only makes links between mothers and children who share the same household. After identifying the number of children that link to the same mother, you can then group them by your desired age ranges.

Hope this helps
