The data I downlaoded in stata format shows as Norton studio when I unzip it what could be wrong?
This likely means that your computer does not recognize the .dta file extension as a Stata file. The easiest solution is to right-click on the file, select ‘Open with’, then ‘Choose Default Program…’ In the window that pops up, click the ‘Browse’ button and select Stata as the program to open the file. That should make your computer recognize .dta as a Stata file. Alternatively, you could simply open Stata and then open the .dta file from Stata.
If you are not able to open the .dta file in Stata I would recommend re-downloading and unzipping the file in case there was some error in this process.
