EDUC identifies educational attainment based on the general version of the coding categories, and EDUCD uses the detailed version of the coding categories. The most important difference is the code categories in EDUC are largely comparable over time, whereas the code categories in EDUCD provide the maximum amount of detail in any given survey year. You can see the codebook corresponding to each of these levels of detail by clicking the radio buttons for "general" and "detailed" on the codes tab.
