Question

Status:Closed    Asked:Sep 20, 2018 - 08:13 PM

When will ACS 2017 be available on IPUMS? (it has been released by Census)

The 2017 ACS broad tables are available on the Census Bureau website: https://www.census.gov/programs-surve...

I was wondering when IPUMS would add it to their database?

Staff Answer

The Census will release the ACS 2017 1-year microdata file on October 18, 2018. We generally take a week or two to process the microdata, so it should be available through IPUMS USA in early November.

We are currently working on preparing the ACS 2017 1-year summary file for release through IPUMS NHGIS. Because it contains a large number of new and modified tables, it will take longer than usual to prepare this release. We expect to release it sometime in mid-to-late October.
