Where does the information of living quarter or livqrt come from(census, etc.) ? I didn't see it in the survey.

I am working on a paper and trying to figure out where living quater or varible livqrt come from. They are not asked in the questionnaire and must be coming from some source.

If you scroll down in the LIVINGQTR Questionnaire Text tab, prior to 1996 there is text in the questionnaire regarding this information, but it is noted as "Mark by observation." This means that the information isn't actually supplied by the respondent but is actually generated by the person administering the survey. There are detailed instructions for the field representative that determine how a household should be coded.

I hope this helps.
