how do I extract data on mexican immigrants in the US

Hi there, I'm new here and trying to replicate data from a research paper I am critiquing. I am trying to extract data on Mexican immigrants in the US ,in 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000 however I cannot seem to figure out how to work this site. Need help as soon as possible! Would be much appreciated :)

First, we have several online video tutorials and a page of FAQs that are often helpful for new users in becoming aquatinted with the IPUMS site. If, after using these resources, you have any specific questions feel free to contact us at ipums@umn.edu.

Second, I'm not sure exactly how the paper you are replicating defines Mexican immigrants, but you might find many useful variables under the Race, Ethnicity, and Nativity variables tab. Specifically, the BPL variable can tell you if the individual was born in Mexico. I hope this is helpful.
