how and where do you add in a county code
In IPUMS USA counties can be identified via the COUNTY or COUNTYFIPS variables. These are two variables that identify counties using slightly different coding schemes. Do note, that in both cases in samples since 1950, counties are not completely identifiable for all households in the data.
