should i use wtfinl to weight flows from employment to unemployment?

Hello,

I am usinge IPUMS-CPS monthly data to conduct an analysis at individual leve aimed to study flows from employment to unemployment and viceversa. In order to study this flows, should I use the wtfinl weight, as for all other labor market statistics?

Do you have any suggestion?

If you will be working with the person-level, non-supplement data only (e.g. employment/unemployment), then you should use WTFINL. The WTFINL variable mostly differs from the supplement weight (WTSUPP) in that it excludes (assigns a weight of zero) to persons in the armed forces and the Hispanic oversample.
